Here is a small landscape formatted book with a spiral binding. Its pages are almost 9" long and 5" high. It is thus a smaller version of the very large version printed at the same time by the same people. Like the larger version, this book takes its time with the story, using repetitions and rhyming verse to build up the story. The movement from being bound up to having the mouse suddenly working on the ropes is therefore all the more abrupt. I even wondered if a page might be missing. The best illustration might be that of the laughing lion. This edition is unusual for its times, I believe, in that it proclaims that it is printed on recycled paper.en_US
