First Paragraph: Now that the first step has been taken towards reforming the present calendar, it would seem timely to place this long-disputed question in its true light. This step consisted in the fact that the Holy See was officially invited in July, 1923, by the League of Nations to send a representative to Geneva in order to express its mind clearly upon the subject. The mere presence of this representative would have satisfied the delegates, even if he did not bind himself to certain terms. The true value of this step, however, lay in this only, that the Holy See at once accepted the invitation. Thereupon the Orthodox Patriarch of Constantinople and the Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury were also requested to send representatives.
