The six "wonder movies" here are created by successive folding of right-hand pages to create a new scene with a rhyming – or almost rhyming – couplet at the bottom of the newly revealed section of the scene. Am I stretching the definition of fable to see several of the stories as fables? In them a character gets from his or her actions a result opposite to what was expected. "Keep Out" has a rabbit leading a squirrel and dog into trouble – bees! -- in a log while the rabbit runs clear. "A Mixed Family" presents a hen who finds eggs and begins to hatch them. What emerges from them? A duck, an ostrich, a stork, and a frog! "The Curious Stork" presents a stork popping a traveling hot air balloon but then being asphyxiated by it. Who knows when the original of this booklet might have been first produced!
