    Interprofessional Collaboration Immersion and Education Intervention

    Abstract
    ABSTRACT
    Healthcare is continuously changing and attempting to improve outcomes. One of the key drivers to improve outcomes and cost is the use of interprofessional collaboration in organizations. A lack of interprofessional collaboration can lead to a lack of adherence to key standards and regulations within the industry and a fall in rankings.

    The purpose of this quality improvement project is to measure the change of a healthcare technology team’s perceptions and attitudes on interprofessional teams in a corporate healthcare environment. The participants will be an interprofessional team of professional associates employed by the healthcare information technology company.

    An educational intervention curriculum and topics were derived and supported by the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education (NEXUS). The education intervention included the following topics: defining interprofessional teams and collaboration, why interprofessional education is used, tactical skills, the interprofessional learning continuum, resources for interprofessional collaboration and a reflection of learnings.

    The paired t-test was used in data analysis to compare the results of the IEPS and RIPLS questionnaire results to determine if there is any statistical significance between baseline and post educational intervention and interprofessional collaboration immersion.

    The implications for practice include broadening the use of interprofessional teams in other healthcare environments and use of just in time learning in the business professional setting.
