    Abstract
    INTRODUCTION

    In 1970, Congress amended the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure to allow a court to issue an order preventing the disclosure of trade secrets, in addition to preventing the disclosure of secret developments, processes, or research. Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 26(c)(7) now states: [For good cause shown .... the court ... may make any order which justice requires to protect a person or party from annoyance, embarrassment, oppression, or undue burden or expense, including one or more of the following:...
