This book has identical plates with the American News edition (1885?) without Krilof's fables. This book has an embossed maroon cloth cover, much thicker pages than that edition, and pages gilt at the top. Can the plates have picked up the smudges that they show here by contrast with the crisp type there? I have trouble dating these various Weir/Townsend editions, but I am at least thankful for the firm date on the title page here.en_US
