Higher education students have an increasing number of pre-existing health and wellness|concerns when they arrive on campus. College-based health service leaders are tasked with addressing those concerns with a finite set of resources within the context of evolving healthcare and higher education industries. In order to develop a set of practices to guide college health leaders in strategically planning to meet these needs, a concurrent mixed method study was conducted. This electronic survey consisted of 7 demographic questions, 20 quantitative questions, and 3 open-ended qualitative questions. After distribution via a national college health Listserv, 112 completed responses were received. Analysis of this data found a need for a broader set of tools to support college health leaders in the area of strategic planning. As a result of these findings, a list of solutions was proposed, which included a document library, a learning series, solution- focused institutes, cultivation of research, and a consultative colleague database. These recommendations may assist college health leaders in developing and executing strategic plans.en_US
